Who are we anyway?

Let’s get to know each other…

The evolving mandate

Whether your department is called Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or Health Technology Management the core objective remains unchanged: safeguarding the clinical equipment within your healthcare organization, ensuring its safety, and maintaining its availability for patients in the clinical setting. Over the course of our 20+ years of experience, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation in the scope and implications of this responsibility.

But who are you really?

How we got here

We work in healthcare facilities just like yours and we face the same day-to-day operational challenges you do. Over the course of 20+ years we have witnessed a significant and irreversible change in our industry – increased usage of data and connectivity. This digital transformation has meant there is a need for a better understanding of traditional IT concepts and security within our departments and it is altering our primary mandate.

We have been driven by this paradigm shift to develop knowledge in many non-traditional areas when thinking of clinical engineering. Here at Cy4Med we have experience and formal training in networks and networking, systems administration (Linux and Windows), and… Cybersecurity.

Many within our industry are lagging behind in these areas and it is a difficult void to fill, especially in light of the global shortage of cybersecurity professionals. This is compounded by the uniqueness of the clinical environment in which we work and that it is poorly understood by those in traditional IT positions. So… we are here to help.
