The Canadian Center for Cyber Security has released its threat assessment for the coming year.
The document is a high level overview of what the expected threat landscape looks like and potential impacts to Canada and Canadians. Healthcare gets a brief mention and I would say it seems overly optimistic but it does reference the large impacts caused by a cyber attack on Newfoundland and Labrador in 2021.
As part of the critical infrastructure of the country healthcare is a prime target for all levels of threat actors – from ransomware to state sponsored attacks. I think it’s imperative that we in Clinical/Biomedical engineering are doing all we can to ensure the safe and continued availability of the equipment we support.
