For anyone interested in an overview of the Canadian laws and regulations that impact digital health initiatives (including Privacy and Cybersecurity) the below link has a good overview. There are also some links to other national jurisdictions to see how we compare in Canada.
I would love to see the Federal government enact some legislation for the Provinces to follow around minimum standards for cybersecurity – above just ensuring data privacy. The jurisdictional issues aside – healthcare is a part of the national critical infrastructure and as such I think it is totally within the purview of the Federal government via Health Canada to provide guidance and regulation for cybersecurity of healthcare facilities and medical devices. That should start a good “debate” 🙂
